Arthur MacManus
(born 1889, died. 1927) was a Scottish t rade union activist and socialist. In 1903, he joined the Sociali st Labor Party [1] and began work at Singer factory in Clydebank, Glasgow. He took part in a strike in April 1911, for which he wa s dismissed [2]. For the support given SLP action against World War I, MacManus was arrested in 1915, when he spoke at George Square in Glasgow against conscription [3]. MacManus soon became one of the leaders of Clyde Workers Committee.
